About the event:
Opening Night: 10 August: 17:00 – 21:00
Innovation in the public sector often requires a shift from traditional thinking.
In partnership with the Western Province Departments of Human Settlements, and Economic Affairs and Tourism, the Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI) showcases how design thinking is being applied in the conceptualisation and roll out of the second round of the Better Living Challenge (BLC).
The CCDI aims to co-create a user-centred challenge, themed ‘Embracing Informality and Enabling Incrementalism’, to surface design innovations, opportunities, ideas and designs that support the incremental improvement and expansion of low-income homes; provide better quality and alternative building materials; increase the comfort and quality of life of residents; and enable a more densified urban form.
