About the event:
Build, draw and learn – pavilion design
Workshop with a selected Cape Town high school: age group 13 – 16
Learners explore their school grounds and reimagine their school’s public spaces. The group will suggest and explore design ideas using tape as the preferred model-building material. At the same time, a class in Copenhagen will be doing exactly the same at a school in their city. Later, learners from both schools will have the opportunity to connect via Skype and share their different ideas and models. The workshop in Cape Town will be facilitated by Danish architect and educator Julie Dufour.
Julie Dufour has delivered many architecture and design workshops in Denmark and abroad. She teaches children and young people at the Danish Architecture Centre, the Children’s Culture House Ama’r, and Farum School of Art, all in Copenhagen. In addition, she runs family workshops for parents and children at numerous cultural institutions in Denmark, including Rigshospitalet, the main hospital in Copenhagen for children recuperating in the hospital. Julie is an architect and a graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and the school of Architecture, Denmark. Together with Malene Abildgaard, she has recently published ‘Build, draw and learn – with world-famous architects’
