About the event:

The Issue

Conventional wisdom dictates that we must value people as whole human beings, not gendered stereotypes. And yet the media continues to sustain the idea that the value of a girl or woman lies in her youth, beauty and sexuality but not in her capacity as a leader. Boys learn that their success is tied to dominance, power, and aggression.

Miss Representation exposes the disconcerting truth behind the powerful world of media and advertising. It casts a spotlight on how females are stereotyped through popular culture and the media. It explores the impact this has on young girls and society at large.

The Mission

The Representation Project uses film as a catalyst for cultural transformation. It aims to inspire individuals and communities to challenge and overcome limiting stereotypes so that everyone, regardless of gender, race, class, age, sexual orientation, or circumstance, can fulfil their human potential.

Regardless of who you are, what job you do, or your background, this is a must-see film.
