At 17:00 the City Hall opens its doors to the Open Design community for the fourth annual 12-day festival of inspiration, discussion and discovery. Meet thought leaders and change makers, share your own experiences, exchange knowledge and grow the Open Design movement to bring about change and improve lives.
The official #ODCT2016 opening event starts at 18:00, kicking off this year’s festival with a bang. It’s more than a party: we’ve laid on some awesome activities during the night, from doodle sessions to virtual reality, gaming, 3D scanning and our local Maker Station.
Look forward to a night of great entertainment. Cape Audio College DJ’s will get the tunes going at 17:00, followed by Banzi Tema’s musical talents from Langa. After the opening formalities you can look forward to the fabulous jazz tunes of legendary Cape Town-based Mozambican drummer/percussionist Frank Paco Art Ensemble. Recently returned from wowing audiences at the Grahamstown Standard Bank Jazz Festival, Frank Paco will be launching their “New Horizons” CD launch and tour which will kick off on the 10th at the Open Design Festival. Featuring Buddy Wells on Saxophone, Adelia Douw on Vocals, Keenan Ahrends on Guitar, Tich Makhalisa on Keyboard, Peter Ndlala on Bass and Frank Paco on Drums and Vocals.
Our OD Cafe in collaboration with Tribe Coffee, Red Bull Amaphiko and various food vendors will quench your thirst and feed your hunger. Thanks to Eikendal Vineyards for being our exclusive wine sponsor this year.
Thanks to all our partners for supporting #ODCT2016.
