I love the nightlife!

While there are more than 50 events taking place during Open Design 2017, you won’t want to miss what’s happening in the evenings and at night.

5K Product Launch
(Thu 24 @ 6pm – 8:30pm)

The 5K project requires BTech Industrial Design Students at CPUT to develop, market and sell a product that will make at least R5000,- profit before the end of their final year. This year the students have formed 4 companies, and each company will launch a product at the event.

Architectural Open Studios
(Tue 22 @ 5pm – 7pm)

Attention aspiring architecture students, young architects and people with an interest in the built environment: on the evening of 22 August, 12 of Cape Town’s leading architecture studios will be opening their doors to the public. It’s an opportunity to see how architects work, experience the diverse spaces they work in, and talk to them about their projects and design process.

SOUP Night!
Community-Based in Cape Town

Hosted by Designers for Change, join and participate in Design for the City on a Community level – plus have tasty soup together! Designers for Change invites you to spend an evening sharing a meal, and hearing visions from passionate community members that see a way to make a better future for Cape Town. And… you could actually contribute to making them happen. Your entrance plus your vote helps kick start one or more of the ideas! There will be live entertainment throughout the night. So also come along for some good food, good vibes and a chance to network. Tickets R60 for soup and vote (Some reduced price community tickets available for R30). Facilitators will be on hand to support English, isiXhosa and Afrikaans speakers**

Art Deco Tour – Culture Connect SA
(Tue 22 @ 5:15pm – 8pm)

Led by heritage architect, Prof Andre van Graan, our architectural tour focuses on outstanding examples of moderne architecture in Cape Town’s centre. We’ll visit a range of buildings, from Mutual Heights (the tallest building in Africa when it was built, 1939) to Mullers shop which is still an optometrist, its original purpose.
